Doug dove into the deep end of web analytics and digital marketing at the turn of the millennium.
He helped a 30-person tech company compete on the world stage against large Silicon Valley companies who were rich with venture capital. That tech company developed and operated an impressive cloud-based web analytics platform before Google Analytics even existed. Doug worked extensively with it to guide marketing efforts and to keep leadership well informed.
Fast forward several years to when Doug was employed elsewhere, and Google Analytics became available to the world for free – he immediately recognized it would become invaluable to a wide variety of organizations.
Doug became a specialist in Google’s marketing technology.
Doug earned certificates from Google for both Google Analytics and Google Ads. Furthermore, having demonstrated to Google that his business was healthy, his clients were happy, and his work embodied Google best practices, he also earned and maintained the title of Google Partner throughout the years he offered Google Ads management to clients.
Doug’s professional focus is now on Google Tag Manager,
Google Analytics 4, and
Google Looker Studio.
This allows him to see projects through from tracking, to analyzing, to reporting. Doug prepared for the retirement of the UA version of Google Analytics, and the resulting need for organizations to properly implement Google Analytics 4, by adopting it early, participating in knowledge sharing with other experts, and successfully completing multiple GA4 courses and the GA4 certification assessment on Google’s training platform.
